Hi all, the link for my pictures on voicethread is below, i have uploaded pics of the p!nk concert i went to, a couple of pics of me, pic of my house and one of my mums pieces of work, my nans butterfly.
some of my favorite things.
This type of site can be used to share various ideas, pictures, video files etc. basically another way to share information between people who are not necessarilly close in distance. pretty easy to use but if you try to upload lots of pictures/files it does take quite a while to upload them.

Hi all,
I found a piece of music that is calming and relaxing. At the moment I would use for rest time music to help the children relax and have a quiet time. In a school I might use it as part of dance piece if i was in a drama class, or as part of a class show to start the show and get everyone's attention and to quiet down.
really pretty, the instrumentation is electronic and a choir.

the music is made up by kevin mcleod and the name of the track is deliberate thought.

thanks, stacy.
This presentation has audio attached to it, yes it's me talking and i dont think i have a radio voice but thats all i've got, lol.
It is very interesting to know that i can now make those really cool talking powerpoints and i can add music etc. it is amazing to think that at one stage making all these different types of presentations used to baffle me.

i watched the other slidecast and i followed all the instructions given on moodle and it all worked exactly the way it is supposed to and i think thats really cool.

Mediafire

Hi all,
My files are up on mediafire and this site i have found was really easy to use, the site told you what you needed to do and anything you wanted to do was at your finger tips.
This type of site could be used to upload readings, files anything your students may need for an assignment or class work could be put up on mediafire rather than printing everything out 30 times, this would save time and paper for both teachers and students.
An awesome idea and great time saver.

wikipedia

Below is a list of references that make up the reference list in response to typing "E-Learning" into Wikipedia. Quite a few are websites and can be searched through wikipedia or addresses can be copied. A lot of the articles are quite new (published after 2000) the references that are older than 2000 are mostly part of paper journals and can either be found in libraries in paper form or may also be able to be found through journal websites which provides copies of journal articles for a small fee or even for free.

very interesting and good reading.
thanks, stacy

WebQuests

WebQuests can be alot of fun for students but can also be very time consuming for teachers. If teachers want to use a webquest they need to think about how much time they will have for all students to be able to complete the webquest and if they have enough computers for all students to complete these. The other alternative is for students to work in pairs which will also cut down the amount of time needed for students to complete the webquest. If teachers want to use a webquest they need to think about what the other students who are not on a computer will do in the mean time. will they be doing work sheets? will they be learning about the same information in preparation for doing the webquest? will the webquest be a middle of the unit exercise or will it be used to test the students at the end of the unit?

If teachers wish to use the webquest i think the most time productive way to do would be to use it as a way to test the students at the end of a unit rather than a middle of the unit exercise. The
webquest will need to cover all major points of the unit to ensure the students can and do understand the unit.

Thanks, Stacy

Itunes

Hi all,
Itunes was another one I had not played with before now, it was very interesting and I enjoyed playing with it.

I found a podcast about how teaching is changing and the future of teaching.
Some of what the speaker was reading was from a essay written back in the 60's and the writer was talking about bringing technology into the classroom and how teaching needs to change to meet the needs of the student. i found it interesting that even back i n the 60's people were thing about how teaching should be changing for the future.
writer was william arrowsmith on the future of teaching.
being read by mathew k tabor.

google earth

Hi all,
Just visited google earth and it is an awesome site. I found my current house and my old place that we moved out of 12 months ago. It amazing to see even how beachmere has changed over the last 12 months. and looking at other countries also really cool, I went to italy in may last year and I looked up some of the places I went to and how awesome is it to see it all again.
For use in a a classroom, a geography assingment would be perfect, the children can look up where the assingment is based around and use that information as part of their knowledge and then reference google earth.
I have no doubt children will enjoy looking at and playing with google earth, I know I did.
thanks, stacy

Stacy's Uni Blog

Stacy's Uni Blog
hi all,
here is the video i found on teachertube. it is about primary colours and each colours is attached to
a sesame street character and for children that is something tangible. The video gives the children something different to look at and understand.

Hi all,
here is my quiz, it is only 5 questions long but only putting 5 questions in gave me
a bit of a chance to play with it and get my head around it. once you know what you are doing it is pretty easy to navigate. The site doesnt always provide the link to the next piece of the puzzle so it does take some reading and asking questions but it is generally an easy site to use.

i like the site and will attempt to use it at a later date.

Flickr

Hi all,
well flickr is up and running and again, and it has been another easy exercise for myself. i put some pics of my god daughter up, and some pics of the p!nk concert i went to in may. I also put a pic up of myself and my god daughter and my on pyjama day at work. i was very careful not to put pictures up of people who have not given me permission to put their pictures up.

powerpoint tutorial

Hi all,
I went through and did the powerpoint tutorial and had a play with the various toolbars and features. Some I have had previous experience with and some I had not even heard of before. Adding motion - swapping slides around and transitions was interesting and really answered questions I had not been able to figure out before now, was definately worth doing to tutorial. The timing feature of powerpoint i love because it means the powerpoint can either run on its own without someone intervening and running it or it can run while someone does the talking to explains what is on each slide.
Adding sound to a powerpoint adds another dimension to the learning experience and therefore ignites another sense in the children's experience. When making a powerpoint as many senses as possible should be explored to keep this children interested, if there is sound/music, pictures and animations, language and bright colours plus an interactive teacher who challenges and engages the children this should be one awesome class experience that the children will love and will come asking for more.
fingers crossed I can keep the children engaged in this way on a daily basis.

google reader

Hi all,
I have my google profile up on google reader.
what I found amazing was as soon as I opened the page because I was already logged into google through msn I was already linked to all of the other blogs everyone else had started, how cool is that I was not looking forward to adding everyone's URL. I dont have to do it now yay!!!
I also found it very easy to change settings and make the profile do what I wanted it too.
Fingers crossed the other tech sites we are linking up to are just as easy.
